It goes without saying, but your employees need to get paid, and it’s your responsibility to make sure that happens on time. There’s a lot that goes into paying your team, however, and a lot that’s easy to get wrong. And, because payroll isn’t something you can just skip for a month, it’s not uncommon for it to feel like yet another burden on your shoulders.

Again, it goes without saying, but payroll calculations are different for every member of staff. One reason why might be because of the benefits-in-kind they receive, such as a company car or private healthcare policy. Or, you might have to take certain deductions into account, including taxes and National Insurance contributions, to work out someone’s exact pay.
What’s more, you have to take the ages of your team into account if you pay minimum wage, while things can get especially confusing and hard to keep track of with part-time workers and zero-hours staff.
